Speeches

I have given speeches to a wide variety of groups and on a wide variety of topics, since 1998. Popular speech topics are: my adventures in Japan, the media, networking, the lives of foreign women, making the most of life in Japan, and entrepreneurship, among many others. I currently tend to focus on giving speeches about Japan to British people, or about my post-earthquake activities to Japanese people.

Soon after the release of my Ask Caroline book, in which it became apparent that nothing is taboo … I was asked to give a talk at a TEDx event, themed “Women’s Places and Spaces.” My space? The bedroom. What else?

As my talk formed in my mind, I found myself wondering why it is that I have such an open and healthy attitude toward sex. I realised that it’s because I have an extremely healthy self-image, which is sadly quite rare in this world where we are dominated with unhealthy and unrealistic images of what our bodies are supposed to look like. I’d like other women to love their bodies too, and there’s one part in particular that I want them to love. It’s not the part you’re thinking of ……
