Help Japan
Since the earthquake, I have scaled back on my professional activities and instead focused on what I can do to support my adopted country. I have travelled around the UK giving talks on Japan to schools and other community groups or organisations; talks focus on Japanese culture and living in Japan, and aim to inspire an interest in the country.
Where appropriate, I have also been encouraging people to think of financial, practical, and emotional things they can do to help Japan, especially long-term, whether that is a letter-writing campaign, a fundraising event, a cultural experience, or the sponsoring of one of the houses I am trying to build on Oshika-hanto.
I would like to help facilitate and support personal and professional relationships between the UK and Japan — my adopted country has given me so much during the past fifteen years that I have called it home.
Donations are always very welcome — they can either go into a general “pot,” or I can look for a specific project where your money can make a real difference. I like to keep in touch with people and let them know exactly what happened to their donations.
If you’re good at fundraising, enjoy a bit of a challenge, and are looking for something exciting to get your teeth into, why not sponsor an Oshika-hanto Home yourself?! Set yourself a target of a million yen (about GBP7,600 or USD13,000) I’ll help you in any way I can so you can reach it!
